Routes World, which brings together decision makers from airlines, airports and destinations to define the world’s road networks, returns to Las Vegas in 2022.
As the 2021 edition of the event drew to a close, SEA Milan Airports transferred hosting responsibilities for the event to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and McCarran International Airport.
After hosting the 2013 edition of the event, LVCVA and McCarran International Airport will once again welcome the global route development community to the city which has been named the # 1 trade show destination for 26 consecutive years.
The aviation industry is an integral part of economies around the world, and in Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport serves as the economic engine that powers the city’s tourism industry. In 2019, the industry’s total economic impact for the city exceeded $ 63 billion.
By pursuing major development projects throughout the pandemic, including the expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center and the construction of three new hotel complexes that have added more than 6,000 new hotel rooms to the destination, Las Vegas made sure to be ready to capitalize on the new opportunities created as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
By constantly bringing together decision-makers from the global road development community, Routes World has had a real impact on the world’s air services – more than half of the world’s new roads are connected to meetings at the event. The vice presidents and heads of network planning of 250 of the world’s leading operators are expected at the event in Las Vegas.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Steven Small, Director of Routes, said, âWe are delighted to be returning to Las Vegas for Routes World. As a destination for business and investment in the future, Las Vegas will be the perfect place to bring together the aviation decision makers who will define the world’s air services.
âLas Vegas and the airline industry have faced steep and unexpected challenges over the past 18 months,â said Steve Hill, President / CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
âBy welcoming Routes World again in 2022, we envision the continued recovery and future growth of the meeting, tourism and aviation industries. As a global business destination heavily reliant on airline connectivity, we look forward to welcoming decision-makers from across the aviation community as they pursue their mission of developing convenient and efficient air service.
“It is an honor to once again serve as the host airport for Routes World,” said Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County Aviation Director.
âAfter so many trying and tumultuous days and nights during this pandemic, it is more important than ever that the world’s aviation leaders come together and plan the way forward for our industry. While there are still challenges ahead, it will be a tremendous opportunity to reunite with old partners and forge new connections that will relaunch and expand world travel. “
Routes World will take place October 9-11, 2022 in the new West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
