The opportunity of Peyton Barber, the commitment of Yannick Ngakoue

A few things the Las Vegas Raiders need to watch out for today.

Earlier this week, head coach Jon Gruden confirmed that running back Josh Jacobs will not play today.

Instead of focusing on the role of Kenyan running back Drake, Gruden focused on the desirability of running back Peyton Barber to show what he can do on the pitch for Silver and Black.

“This is an opportunity for Peyton Barber,” said Gruden. “We really love Barber. We think he’s quite a backpack. Coming from Tampa, I got to really get behind the scenes of him and I love the way he runs and catches and picks up blitzes.

“And Kenyan will continue to play a role in our system no matter who the other back is, and we are thrilled for this opportunity to see what we have.”

Meanwhile, Gruden also mentioned Yannick Ngakoue, one of the team’s captains, who was injured but will be active today for the Raiders.

“Well he’s one of our toughest players,” said Gruden. “He is a team captain, chosen almost unanimously. It says a lot, but he wants to win.

“He knows we have to have him to win. And I admire those players who take extreme measures to do what they need to do to prepare to play mentally and physically, and he’s at the top of the rankings when it comes to that.

Some headlines to watch out for today as the Raiders take on the Steelers at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
