WGU Achieves Military Friendly® School Designation 2022-2023

Las Vegas, NV – Western Governors University (WGU) has announced that it is the recipient of the 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School designation and is ranked as the #1 school in line. This is the 12th consecutive year that WGU has received the Military Friendly® School designation.

Schools that have earned the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using public data sources and proprietary survey responses. More than 1,800 schools took part in the 2022-2023 survey, 665 of which won special awards for exceeding the standard.

The 2022-2023 Military Friendly® Schools list will appear in the May and October issues of GI Jobs magazine and can be viewed at www.militaryfriendly.com.

The methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Board comprised of independent leaders from the higher education and military recruiting community. Final grades were determined by combining the results of the institution’s survey with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet the thresholds for student retention, graduation, placement, reimbursement of loan, persistence (advancement or degree transfer) and default rate for all students and, in particular, for veteran students.

“WGU recognizes and honors the sacrifice and dedication required to serve our country, and we strive to be a military-oriented institution that provides educational opportunities for active duty members, National Guard, reservists, veterans and to their families. We are proud to once again be named a Top Military Friendly® School” – Jeff Harley, Director of Military Engagement Strategic Partnerships, WGU.

“Military Friendly® is committed to ensuring transparency and providing consistent, data-driven standards in our designation process. Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and supporting services that improve the educational landscape and provide opportunities for the military community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to scale and invest in their programs consistently. Schools that achieve award designation demonstrate true commitment to their efforts, going above and beyond this standard. – Kayla Lopez, National Director of Military Partnerships, Military Friendly®.
