Zamir White pivot for the Las Vegas Raiders?

By trading their first- and second-round picks earlier this offseason for wide receiver Davante Adams, the Las Vegas Raiders knew the production they were going to get from their 2022 draft class was going to be more limited.

Even with that caveat, the Raiders got high marks for players they were able to bring in, with former Georgia running back Zamir White being particularly notable.

Taken in the fourth round, White was part of a successful committee for the Bulldogs that also included fellow member James Cook.

White did enough to stand out despite not being a point guard, averaging 5.3 yards per carry for his career and scoring 22 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

He just needs to be labeled by NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein as a key recruit for the Raiders this season.

Zierlein notes White’s physical attributes, saying that “his figure and demeanor have early meaning of the nfl written everywhere.”

At 6-foot, 215 pounds, White certainly has an NFL-ready body, and having success in a conference like the SEC makes it easy to see how that ability can translate.

He won’t come in a leadership role, with Zierlein pointing out that Pro Bowler Josh Jacobs is still the No. 1 running back for the Raiders.

If one thing has become apparent in the Raiders’ first two preseason games, it’s that Raiders coach Josh McDaniels will vary his use of running back.

In those two games, White had 21 combined touches on offense and led the team in runs in their Hall of Fame win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Although White may not get the most touches every game, he will likely be one of the Raiders’ backfield options this season.

White is a hard runner who has shown explosiveness once he hit the holeshot, and with White having multiple receptions in each of the Raiders’ preseason games, he could also be a transmission threat.

If anything, White’s ability will create real competition between the Raiders’ main backs, which, as a by-product, could cause everyone involved to raise their game to try and stay ahead.
